Like most coastal towns Beaufort has grown fast.
With one main road in and out Beaufort traffic can be heavy. We experienced gridlock on one occasion and learned not to be on the road during peak times. There was still parking downtime in city lots but getting harder to move around.
Beaufort is still a nice place just would like to go back maybe 10 or so years. May look for a smaller place to vacation later in the year with less traffic and fewer folks..
Still a couple of local places like Shrimp Shack but losing most Mom and Pop shops which loses a lot of local charm. Getting to look more like other towns with clearing land and loss of trees. Losing Oaks for Walmart is not OK.

Very cute town seemingly full of tourists.
Very cute town seemingly full of tourists. The waterfront park is a highlight, my child loved the park and we had a great lunch at Luther's. We felt very safe and there are public restrooms by the park which is always a plus! I didn't travel to the beach, so I'm not sure how far it is.

Beaufort itself is great.
Beaufort itself is great. It's a small town but getting more and more crowded every day. So, if you want to go, go now. Don't wait too many years. In the city itself, there's not much room for expansion.

It's grown from the sleepy little town it was when I was stationed there late 70s early 80s. Still nice place to visit and the people are down to earth good people. Loved Port Royal & wetlands, downtown Beaufort busy, car congestion, but nice views from the water's edge.

A quiet little town like most cities USA.
A quiet little town like most cities USA. Surrounded by water, lakes rivers, and ocean so there are more than a few bridges to cross. A decent number of hotels, and restaurants to serve all of those who visit this city while attending a week of Marine Recruit Graduation.
At least 20,000 Marine Recruits attend the training there at Parris Island so approximately 2000 family members attend graduation three times monthly so the city of Port Royal, and Beaufort should obtain grants to cater to all walks of life Americans who come to shelter, lodge, eat, shop, and fill up with gas, as often as this for our Military population.
This adds up to approximately 40,000 family members of 20,000 Marine Recruits who visit as a result of ONE REASON, MCRD PARRIS ISLAND, SC!! Quite The Economic Powerhouse I Would Say!!

Beaufort is a beautiful town.
Beaufort is a beautiful town. Please tell me Bookings.com is really serious about paper straws over plastic. They are more toxic than plastic. All the coffee stuff is wrapped in plastic. The soap containers are plastic. Water bottles are plastic. It makes me sick to see the total hypocrisy by Woke idiot managers of companies like Bookings. Will never use you idiots again.
We stayed here for my son’s US Marine Corps graduation week. The apartment is tucked away in historic downtown Beaufort. It’s spacious and private, with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Short walking distance to the waterfront and all of the downtown shops and restaurants. And it was only a 20 minute drive to the Parris Island base. We loved it, and would definitely stay again when we’re in the area! Definitely recommend for a quiet family get-away, or if you’re visiting Parris Island fir USMC graduation.
The location was perfect. Niqua was at front desk. She was very attentive and helpful. The room was well-appointed and the bathroom was huge. Niqua delivered chocolate chip cookies with a tag giving the next day's weather. We bought a bottle of wine from the hotel upon arrival. Niqua delivered it to our Room with an ice bucket and opener. She was able to store my ice packs in coffee shop freezer. Nice outside chairs to watch world go by. Would highly recommend City Loft Hotel.
We were in a cottage rather than the old building. Absolutely beautiful room and facilities, lovely private balcony with rocking chairs. Outside communal areas with fire pits and sofas. Location perfect and breakfast vouchers for a fantastic diner across the road. Would love to return.
Breakfast was great, they had an ice cream truck while we were there, nice extra, room was clean and beds were comfortable, the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. It was conveniently located to restaurants, Walmart, downtown beaufort and Ladys island.
Coffee in lobby was fantastic! Best I've had in a hotel. 24-hr coffee availability was a great extra. Room was spotless; my location across from ice, near office was perfect. Breakfast was more than sufficient. I will be back! Price was good also.
Nice design, decor and infrastructure conditions. It all looked new and smelled nice. Good parking area, nice breakfast if you where lucky enogh to wait for the late breakfast (was never ready on time but they did lock the breakfast on time).
This is not your typical Best Western, it is much more. The breakfast was the best hotel breakfast I have had in a while; they even had fresh flowers on the tables. It is in a great location and the staff is friendly and helpful.
Could not eat breakfast in peace because a leak was happening in that area from the roof. The pool and hot tub were closed and the bar was closed. I want a refund! It was a waste of money . It was a cost for breakfast
I love this hotel when I'm visiting beaufort because it is very convenient and close by places I need to go. I also like that the remodel but I feel it still needs a little work on some of the things in the hotel.
Beautiful little cottage with lovely interior design, soft colors and welcoming vibe. Everything was thought off, very clean, the location is amazing, the yard was fenced, and everything was very pet friendly.
The house is over 100 years old and is in the historic part of Beaufort. My husband is a history buff so right up his alley. We could walk everywhere and take in the beauty of the city.
The room was clean and simple. We loved learning about the hotel's history. The breakfast was GREAT! Best breakfast we have had at a hotel. We will definitely come back.
The Hotel was exactly as billed and very PET friendly. We knew the pool was out of commission that did not affect as much.
The room was generally clean.
All of the staff other than the food area were very friendly and helpful. The location was great, facilities were clean and nice. Very pet friendly also!
